Step by Step Recipe of White Sauce Pasta
For your understanding, we’ve broken down the entire white sauce pasta veg recipe into four major sections. These are then further segmented into steps for better clarity.
1. Make White Sauce
- Start while heating a saucepan.
- Once heated, keep the flame low, and add 2 tablespoons of butter to it. You can choose either salted or unsalted butter. Your choice.
- Once the butter starts melting and makes a sizzling sound, add 1 tablespoon of grated garlic.
Note: We have added the mentioned the use of garlic in this recipe of white sauce pasta. You can avoid garlic if you don’t like it or use garlic powder instead.
- Fry the garlic for a few seconds until light golden brown.
- Add 1 and ½ teaspoons of all-purpose flour. Depending on the choice of sauce consistency, you can even add 2.
- On medium flame, mix the flour and the bitter together. Saute them well until the flour changes its colour to a pale golden and loses its raw smell.
- Make sure to keep stirring the two well so that the flour cooks evenly and doesn’t turn brown or stick to the bottom of the pan.
- Start pouring the milk (cold preferred) slowly and use a whisk (or spatula) to mix it well, so that no lumps are formed.
- Stir frequently for a smooth creamy texture. Keep on doing it until the sauce thickens.
- Pour the rest of the milk into batches and stir. To check if it is done yet or not, see if it coats the back of the spoon. If it is thick enough to your preference, you are good to go.
Note: If you want more cheese and creaminess in your sauce, you can choose to add 2 tablespoons of shredded cheddar cheese or grated parmesan cheese.
- Do not forget to add salt. Well, that’s obvious. But I still want to make sure, you don’t forget.
- Don’t overcook the sauce. As the sauce gets thicker on cooling, make sure to keep the consistency accordingly.
- Lastly, taste the sauce. Adjust spices or salt to your liking.

Well, if you are a multitasker and can handle two tasks altogether, then you can carry on this process of the recipe of white sauce pasta while preparing it.
But if not, don’t worry. You can get it done both after or before you are done with your pasta sauce.
- Boil water in a pan, and add 1/4 or 1/2 teaspoon of salt to it.

- Don’t forget to reserve some stock.
3. Saute Vegetables
- Put some butter or oil in the pan.
- Add vegetables of your choice. Like carrots, broccoli, olives, sweet corn kernels, bell peppers, etc.

- Mix everything together gently.
