Get ready, budding chefs! The most exciting cooking competition in India is back, and it’s bigger and tastier than ever. We’re talking about the National Culinary Challenge (NCC 2026) – proudly organized every year by NFCI (National Finishing & Culinary Institute). If you are a young budding chef who loves playing with masalas, this is YOUR moment to shine!

What is NCC 2026?

NCC is India’s top annual cooking competition for NFCI students who dream of becoming professional chefs. Every year, thousands of NFCI students from more than 20 campuses fight for the national crown. The best part? It’s all about cooking good food, super fun, and full of real learning.

NCC 2026 – Two Super-Exciting Rounds (So Far!)

Round 1 – Centre Level (Your First Step to Fame!)

Theme: “Flavours Redefined” with family recipes”   

Rules:

– Cook one vegetarian dish + its accompaniments from any Indian regional cuisine (Punjabi, Rajasthani, Bengali, South Indian, Gujarati… anything!)

– Bring the love of your home – use your mom’s, dadi’s or nani’s secret family recipe!

– Only vegetarian dishes allowed for the Round-1.

Dates: 10th to 15th December 2025 

– Small centres (less than 100 students): One single day between 10–15 Dec

– Big centres (more than 100 students): Spread over 10–15 Dec

You cook at home, bring the dish to your NFCI centre, and local hotel chefs will taste and judge. They will pick the best plates using a special scoring system sent from NFCI Head Office. Winners go to Round 2!

Round 2 – Centre Level (Now Things Get Serious!)

Theme: “Sustainable Indian Vegetarian Dish with 3C Challenge – Crunch, Colour, and Creativity” 

Rules:

– Make one main course + proper accompaniments

– Must use rice as the main ingredient (think pulao, biryani, khichdi, dosa, idli – get creative!)

– Dish must be sustainable (use seasonal, local, budget-friendly items)

– Your plate must have CRUNCH, bright COLOURS, and lots of CREATIVITY

Dates: 20th to 23rd December 2025

Good news: All ingredients will be given at your NFCI centre, and the cost is paid by Head Office – so no tension about money!

Again, top industry chefs will taste and choose the winners. These lucky boys and girls will move to the Zonal and then National levels in 2026!
